Here it is a general overlook of our seven days’ experience in the beautiful and exhaustive Apulia in Southern Italy. Moreover, thanks to our language classes you will end your holiday speaking the beautiful language of Dante! Here is how we have structured the week for you. All activities are thought to be suitable for all preferences and to give everyone our perspective on Italian tradition and language learning.
DAY 1
Morning Arrival, check in to your accommodation. “Benvenuti in Italia!” – Greetings and presentation of the school. Follows a visit to an oil mill to discover the process behind the peculiar olive oil.
Lunch Lunch in a typical “Trattoria di pesce”.
Afternoon Walking tour through Bari “Vecchia” and the Basilica of San Nicola.
DAY 2
Morning Move to Trani: wine itinerary in the beautiful Villa Schinosa, where the famous wine Moscato di Trani is produced. Follows an Italian lesson “Dove andiamo? – Asking for information and useful expressions”.
Lunch Lunch in a typical fish restaurant by the sea to taste fresh Italian food and pasta, as well Apulian wines and other specialities.
Afternoon Guided walking tour in the medieval city centre to admire the famous frescoes by Piero della Francesca and the glazed Della Robbia’s ceramics in the Duomo.
DAY 3
Morning Move to Andria. Visit a famous caseificio (cheese factory) and taste the well-known burrata and stracciatella.
Lunch Lunch in a typical “masseria” in the Murgia Valley. Taste Apulian cheese, meet, pasta and wines with an Italian lesson focused mainly on Italian ingredients in Apulia’s recipes.
Afternoon Cultural visit to the Svevian Casle del Monte followed by an Italian aperitivo.
DAY 4
Morning Move to Altamura, a small town famous for pane (bread) where you will visit a typical Italian forno a legna (wood-burning oven) and taste the best Italian focaccia.
Lunch Lunch in a typical “Trattoria” in Apulia.
Afternoon Move to Conversano. Walking tour through the old town and visit of the Cathedral.
DAY 5
Morning Move to Polignano a Mare, the city built on the sea known for its beautiful landscapes and for being the native town of the Italian singer Domenico Modugno. Visit to the old town and the city centre.
Lunch Taste delicious ricci di mare (sea urchins) on the Savelletri.
Afternoon Return to Bari for shopping in the city centre. Here, in via Sparano and Corso Cavour, the teacher guide will take a useful Italian lesson focused on expressions for shopping.
DAY 6
Morning Soft bike excursion in the Murgia Valley with an experienced guide to discover the natural landscape of Murgia. Enjoy Italian vocabulary about nature.
Lunch Lunch in a typical Italian “masseria”.
Afternoon Move to Alberobello, the town of the famous “trulli”.
DAY 7
Morning Cooking class in Bari to learn how to make orecchiette (a handmade pasta) and cook panzerotti (fried pizza with mozzarella and tomatoes) which are typical in Apulia.
Lunch Lunch in a typical fish restaurant in Monopoli
Afternoon Move to Castellana Grotte to visit its charming caves. Follows a goodbye Italian aperitivo to celebrate your week of Lingua e Cultura Italiana!
